The Witness Ministry Team provides for evangelistic outreach, member care, spiritual formation and witness. The Witness Ministry Teams are: Communications, Evangelism, Mission, Christian Unity & Inter-religious Concerns, Status & Role of Women, and Lay Servant.
Communications
This team is responsible for communicating the ministry of the church to the larger community. It keeps the congregation informed through bulletin announcements and periodic newsletter. The team also works closely with the church secretary to assure information is timely and accurate. It encourages readership of United Methodist media.
Evangelism
This team provides avenues for members to reach out into the community to spread the mission of the local church. It leads the congregation in offering Christ to all who hear and receive people into the family of faith. The team also fosters nurturing discipleship and spiritual formation and sends members forth to spread the gospel. The team assists in planning revivals and leads Prayer Service.
Mission
The missions team educates the congregation about the outreach of the church in the nation and around the world. It involves members in mission and service projects in the community and enlists persons as missionaries and encourages financial support of the United Methodist Missionaries.
Christian Unity and Inter-religious Concerns
This team supports the work of the Council of Churches in the State and National levels. It promotes fellowship, mission, and ministry opportunities with other churches within the Christian community. The team is responsible for sharing in the on-going dialogue to bring the body of Christ to a sense of oneness beyond denomination.
Status and Roles of Women
This team serves as an advocate for issues that affect women in the church and provides for inclusion of women in the activity of the church, including worship. It keeps the church aware of needs of women in the church and the community. The team builds coalition and community based women’s advocacy groups and sponsor “Women in the Pulpit” observance for the local church.
Lay Servant
This team assists the pastor in the mission and ministry of the church and with scheduling lay speakers for service in worship. It participates in the ministry and programs of the church. The persons on this team serve as liturgists for worship and serve as speakers for worship and special services.
